This week I had the pleasure of being a guest of @KristinaBehr at @News12NJ to talk about holiday tipping and who not to forget during this busy time of the year! Tips are an expression of gratitude and an acknowledgment of a job well done. All tips, when possible, should be accompanied by a heartfelt, handwritten note. Though this year I did send two holiday tips by way of Venmo to two 25-year-olds, I did my homework in advance to make sure this wouldn’t be offensive and a handwritten note will follow. You can see the whole interview here and below is a recap of some of the holiday tipping suggestions we couldn’t fit into the segment.

Household:

Housekeeper - the equivalent of one week’s service

Landscapers - the equivalent of one week’s service

Pool Service - the equivalent of one cleaning visit

Dog Walker - the equivalent of one week’s service

Dog Groomer - the equivalent of what you pay for one visit

Deliveries - up to $50 in cash or cash card to your USPS mail carrier. UPS, FedEx and Amazon don’t typically take tips but depending on your relationship with your driver a small gift and thank you may be appropriate.

Doorman - $50-$100 depending on how much they have assisted you

Childcare:

Teachers - Check first to be sure the class isn’t doing one group gift. If not you could give up to $50 in the form of a gift card such as Amazon or Target or a card that can be used as cash such as Visa or American Express. Also, include a little handmade gift from the child if they are old enough.

Teachers Assistants, School Nurse, Bus Driver, Crossing Guard- should receive up to a $20 gift or cash card, a handwritten note and gift from the child

Beauty:

Barber, Hair, Nail, and Lash Salon - the equivalent of the cost of one visit
